goodbye

I had a vision

Of how our last meeting would go,

We would hug

And I would know

That you lived a good life

And were ready to go,

And you would know

That you were loved,

Especially by me;

But I sit across from you

With you scared to leave,

And me scared for you to go,

And I wish not to stop time,

But to rewind it,

To anticipate your troubles

And cure them

Before they would start;

But unfortunately

That is impossible

Because life is imperfect like that,

Just like goodbyes.

      1. How horrible for you, your family and your pet. I’ve had many dogs and had to put one down for cancer. It felt like losing a brother, with all the grieving associated with the loss of a relative. Except the emotional bounce back time was quicker. For me, at least. I’m not telling you how to feel. I just want to sympathize and let you know I empathize as well. 😢
